Job Description
This position in coordination with the MIA Collections Division will be responsible for Art Handling and Exhibition preparation, and other duties connected with art work as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Work with Collections and Security staff to install, move, crate, pack, unpack object and artworks
• Work with Conservators to consider the best way to transport objects and artwork; keeping it safe and preventing any damage
• Ensure appropriate standards of collections care for objects in storage; well maintained areas and controlled object movement.
• Be responsible for packing artwork for safe transit
• Liaise with transportation companies, hardware and other manufacturers
• Other tasks as requested by the Head of Collections
• Fluency in English; Arabic desirable
• Correct manual handling procedures
• Security protocols
• Communication skills
• Organisation skills
• BA Degree, Diploma or High School certificate
• 2 years of experience in Art Handling
• Preparation of art objects for exhibitions and loans
• Working with contractors in design, exhibition construction and transportation
• Working in a Museum Environment
• Problem solving
