Job Description
Randstad MENA is seeking an experienced Mechanic I – Mechanical on behalf of a major client. This is a permanent staff position based in Saudi Arabia.
Basic Function:
- Carries out servicing, repairs and overhauls of a variety of Company Mobile Plant vehicles and equipment such as pneumatic and hydraulic equipment. Performs routine service of equipment including checking of oil and water levels, tires, batteries, hose conditions, etc at both surface and underground locations. Performs major repairs including overhauling engines, transmissions and other vital mechanical engine parts.
- Maintains and repairs mechanical mill equipment to ensure equipment is productive at all times. Equipment includes Crusher, Mill Watering System, Refinery, Grinding, Piping, Pumps, Vessels, and Dryers etc.
Work Performed:
- Carries out servicing of Company Mobil Plant pneumatic and hydraulic equipment. Includes inspecting distributor elements, fluid levels, connections, covers, lubricants moving parts, replacing items such as spark plugs, contact points, filters, fluids, adjusts plugs, tunes engine, and other related items, etc. in accordance with checklists and specified operational parameters.
- Diagnoses faulty equipment, identifies maintenance procedures, decides on repairs or replacement of components, carries out necessary repairs and checks work upon completion.
- Repairs, overhauls and reconditions defective or worn out components and units. Includes disassembling units or component parts, establishing faults, obtaining and installing appropriate parts, or mending or fabricating same, as required.
- Participates in the work of other personnel making more routine repairs to mechanical equipment. Includes checking work progress of less experienced mechanics, answering emergency calls to repair equipment, engines at surface and underground locations.
- Receives detailed and prioritized work/job orders from Charge Hand to repair or maintain various pieces of mechanical mill equipment to ensure mill equipment operates efficiently and effectively at all times.
- Locks equipment out to ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Drains equipment of any residual fluids, chemicals, milled material etc. Ensures that all residue is drained off appropriately, to enable a clean and safe working environment.
- Strips equipment to ascertain maintenance or repair requirements. Advises Planner of spare parts requirements and receives parts from Planner. Reassembles and checks equipment in terms of manufacturers’ specifications.
- Removes lock to reactivate equipment. Leases with Mill Operator to observe and test-run equipment to ensure efficient operation.
- Carries out good housekeeping by ensuring area is left clean and tidy and that no tools are left lying around.
- Writes and submits reports to supervisor regarding predictive maintenance requirements of mill equipment, tools and consumable requirements, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of Secondary (12 years) education plus 2 years of formal vocational training in heavy equipment mechanical work and trade certificate.
- 3 years’ experience in servicing and repairs of mining and earth moving equipment and underground safety mining practices.
- 3 years’ related fitter experience within a mining organization
- Fair knowledge of job English.
