Al-Futtaim Engineering’s MEP division was first established in 1978 in the UAE and has since expanded its operations into KSA, Qatar and Egypt in recent years.
About the role:
An exciting opportunity is opened for an experienced Operations Manager within the MEP projects team in Al Futtaim Engineering. As a part of the MEP team you will typically operate as an Operations Manager & will be responsible for a team of Project Directors and Project Managers and is responsible for the successful delivery of the projects. Job profile includes planning, directing and coordinating the operations of the projects and is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the business and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. In this capacity, the Operations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing projects execution strategy, ensure the implementation of quality control standards and cost control on projects for on time completion. Delivering the projects on time, within the budget and quality set by the organization. Liaising with all stake holders to ensure project deliverables are met. Coordinating with project managers, project directors in ensuring timely order of materials, planning / arranging of labor / sub-contractors. Coordinating with planning managers in monitoring productivity, comparing between planned vs. actual. Supervising, monitoring and reporting project progress throughout the project cycle to ensure on time completion. Lead Projects progress meetings and coordinate with other departments. Overseeing the installation and construction work from time to time and ensure efficient standards of workmanship are maintained. Managing Cash Flow Requirements for the Projects. Control expenditures within limitations of project budget. Managing material and manpower requirements. Coordinating with QS managers to ensure execution of projects within estimated cost. Monitoring of variation orders and ensuring timely submission approval. Monitor and ensure pre-construction activities in projects (material submittals and drawings) are executed in-line with projects plan. Ensure that adequate resources are assigned to the project in coordination with project head. Responsible for assignment of adequate QA/QC staff. Monitor and control the quality performance of the projects. Ensure no quality deviations occur in the projects. Ensuring that all company and sub contract personnel are complying with AFE HSE Policy. Actively support and participate in safety and environmental initiatives. Assist in recruitment and placement of required staff; establishment of organizational structure; delegation of tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance in partnership with the HR. Effectively lead the team. Lead, coach, develop and motivate staff to achieve their potential and increase their effectiveness and contribution.
Your role will be based in Dubai, however will be working on projects across the U.A.E. You will report into the General Manager and responsible for a team of Project Directors and Project Managers.

To be considered for this exciting role, you should have a Bachelor’s Degree specialised in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering. MBA is an asset. You should have minimum 15+ years of relevant experience managing large multiple MEP Projects. Ideally have knowledge/experience about GCC market environment. Experience of working in a multinational and multicultural environment is an asset.
Must have excellent knowledge of Contract Conditions, Health and Safety Regulations, Local Authorities Requirements for the Projects. Conversant with International Standards and specifications for construction, ISO Standards. Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management. Knowledge of business and management principles and practices. Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of human resource principles and practices. Knowledge of project management principles and practices.

An excellent customer service attitude and the ability to interact with customers in a professional manner are required. Strong knowledge of MS office. Should have UAE valid Driving License.
